Handgun Attack Caught on Camera
Victorian Police have continued their search for a man who threatened a female shop assistant with a handgun during a robbery on a clothing store last month. The brazen robbery was captured by a cctv camera. After pointing the gun to threaten the woman he then stole money from the till of the shop, in Chapel Street, South Yarra. Not content with his ill-gotten takings, he then ran across the road to a shop opposite, where he attempted to do the same thing, police said. The female shop assistant refused to open the till and the bandit was forced to flee the store empty handed. In both incidents there was only one staff member in store when the robber struck. Police have warned against the practice. They have advised store owners to be vigilant towards closing time and consider installing surveillance equipment.
