Sydney Sees Increase in Home Invasions
A 63 year old man has been bashed in his home as attackers came to his door at 7.25pm, May 17. After answering the door, the man was hit with the baseball bat while the men searched his home for valuables. Despite his injuries the home invaders made off with just a wallet and a mobile phone. The homeowner was later taken to Concorde Hospital where he was treated for minor leg injuries. Earlier in the same week, a 69 year old man from Mount Druitt was also the target of a home invasion. Police say they do not believe the two incidents are connected. A home invasion happens when criminals enter your home when you are still there, either sneaking in to grab a wallet or handbag, or forcing entry. It is advised that people check who is at their door before opening it and make sure their home security systems and practices are up to date.
